Where We Begin - Numero Uno
Like a rooster at sunrise, the sirens of New York’s emergency responders woke me up well before my alarm. While not a light sleeper, the fact I had a plane to catch kept my circadian rhythm ready for anything that could resemble a potential snooze and the wails promptly kicked me into gear. Good thing too because American Airlines had moved me onto an earlier flight to avoid a delay and ensure I’d get to Mexico City .
The Gods seem to be looking out so I’d say the tour is off to a good start.
There are a lot of ways to count the days but I am a sucker for beginnings so will say this departure south signals numero uno. Over the coming weeks and months, I plan on wandering this little rock we live on, seeing the sights I saw in National Geographic with my own two eyes and leaving footprints in an attempt to chart my own expedition of self exploration. To those that know me, I imagine this doesn’t seem like a surprise. After struggling to sit still for most of my life, it feels natural to keep on moving.
As per usual, the plan is loose and the schedule is open to interpretation: while a few points of interest are pinned, the “when am I going where” question will be determined on short notice and based on constraints as they present themself. To echo Ram Dass, I am here now and that spirit will be practiced wherever I end up, whenever I get there.
I am thinking of the posts to come as Postcards. A few (thousand) fotos will be taken along the way and the goal is to turn some of my thoughts into words too. I am looking to grow in all creative pursuits so let me know what you think!
